{Harvey V Neck Tee} by OUSM Designs

It is so hard to find new and unique patterns for boy's sometimes, but my friends over at OUSM Designs seem to always have something up their sleeve. I was completely on board when they had a call for testers on a 'v' neck tee. I was even more surprised when I went to make it and they threw that little bit of uniqueness in there.

The Harvey 'V' Neck Tee has the cutest little pocket placed on the sleeve...perfect for a little car...maybe even a train...the possibilities are endless. Now, I don't want to discriminate, so I will say that this tee will also be great for girls. It's an all around great pattern and will definitely become a staple here in my home. Very quick pattern to assemble. I did have to work a bit to get a crisp 'v' on the neck, but I think that is a trick that takes time to perfect. Sizes included are 12 months-8 years. The fit of the tee was spot on with the recommended sizing for his chest measurement. The Harvey 'V' Neck Tee comes with 2 body options--solid and color blocked; and 2 sleeve options--short or long. I chose to do the color blocked short sleeve tee because who doesn't love some flair to their shirts...I have a really hard time doing solid colors, but I am sure that one of these days I will have a reason to ;) I think that I might try and make a muscle tee next since we live in TX and it is HOT, HOT, HOT outside...and my son has already requested one with no sleeves. We gotta do what the kids want, right?!?!

You can get the Harvey V Neck for only $5 through Sunday!!!!!

{Posh Popover} by Love Notions

I have been sewing so much lately that I forgot about blogging....ahhhh...I need to catch up!

Love Notions just released the Posh Popover and let me jut say, my daughter and I are just in love. I am super excited that Tami started offering "plus" sizes with her newest girls patterns. The extra little bit of room in the plus sizes give my daughter just enough room for comfort and fits her just perfect. I am so thankful to Tami. I cannot tell you how difficult it is to find patterns that fit my daughter correctly without having to move up to a larger size, or even women's sizes...but they just never look right or fit great. I am also thankful because I am still able to dress her in modest clothing that is fitting for a "girl"...not a "tween" or even a "teen". When she is happy and comfy, so am I!!!!

Onto the pattern now ;) You should know by now if you regularly read my blog, that Tami always offers TONS of options in her patterns. The Posh Popover comes in tank, knee length dress and maxi length as well as tank and sleeved options. I chose to do the tank top because my daughter needed more shirts for summer. It was a really quick sew and didn't take too much fabric either. The crop top is actually a great scrap buster. I have made myself so many shirts out of 2 yard cuts, and the leftover scraps that I have are perfect for this. A nice rayon blend works well for the crop, or any knit or even woven with a nice drape will give it the pretty flowy look. I cannot wait to make more...as I am sure my daughter is as well!!!!

With all these pictures that I have been taking of her, she sure is becoming the cutest little model! The Posh Popover is available in sizes 2T to 16 years and 8P-16P. It is on sale through Saturday, June 27th for $6 only!!!! If you would like to learn more about this pattern or purchase it for yourself, you can find it HERE (aff. link).

Thanks for stopping by! Leave me a comment letting my know what your favorite "summer" sew is right now.

{Chicken Nuggets and Honey Mustard} THM S Meal

Nothing beats comfort food, but when you are trying to eat right, sometimes it can be hard. I came across a really awesome oven fried chicken recipe a while back ( I need to do some searching for the original) that sounded amazing, but of course contained flour...a no-no on THM. I simply switched out the white flour for almond flour and viola, some seriously amazing chicken!!!

When I first started using this recipe, I would use chicken breasts, but I soon realized that you get a much better flavor when you cut the breast into nuggets. *Tip: If the chicken breasts that you are using are much larger on one side, beat it out so that the breast is at an even thickness.

Preheat oven to 350°. Grab a large bowl...the largest one you have. I have a large bowl that I purchased at Costco that I use for preparing these. Mix all your spices as well as the almond flour into your bowl and whisk together. The almond flour that I use can get a bit clumpy, so using the whisk will break that up. Cut your chicken breasts into nugget size pieces and toss into the bowl. This is where the large bowl comes in handy, to roll around the chicken and coat it well. Spread onto a cookies sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 12-15 minutes. Halfway through, I normally flip them...actually I just shake the pan a little, but that is optional. They will be a bit more crispy if you don't turn them.

Chicken Nuggets w/ Honey Mustard
{THM S Meal}

1/2 c. almond flour
2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. black pepper
2 tsp. poultry seasoning
2 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. curry powder
2 lbs. chicken breasts

Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, combine all your ingredients together and whisk well, breaking up clumps. Cut your chicken breasts into nugget size pieces and toss into the bowl. Coat chicken well. Spread onto a cookies sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 12-15 minutes. Optional: For a less crisp nugget, flip halfway through.

For the honey mustard:

2 tbsp. Dukes mayo
1 tsp. yellow mustard
2 tsp. whole grain mustard
1/2 packet Pure Via Stevia
1/2 tsp. paprika

Mix all ingredients together and enjoy!!!!
Enjoy!

I hope that you enjoy this meal as much as I do! Please leave me a comment if you decide to make it. Thanks for stopping by.

{Canadian Pattern Blog Tour}

Hey y'all! I am so excited to be participating in the Canadian Pattern Blog Tour today! My sewing buddy, Ula, over at Lulu & Celeste has put together this amazing tour showcasing patterns from Canadian Designers. You can find all of the information about the tour HERE. Check out all of the bloggers that are participating this month!

And a peek of the designers that are being featured!!!!!

When I was given the choice of which pattern to showcase, I immediately jumped on Gracious Threads Lazy Day Lounge Pants. Originally I was thinking that I would use them for pajama bottoms for my son because he is in desperate need of pjs. However, seeing how nice they sew up, they can easily be used for everyday use as well.
My son is always excited when I make new patterns for him, but when he saw that not only were they "stretchy" pants, but contained his most favorite color, he was OVER THE MOON excited. He gets really frustrated with buttons on his pants, so knowing that the waistband was elastic, was a big deciding factor for me. The pattern calls for 1 1/2" elastic, giving a nice wide and sturdy band, paired with the faux drawstring, the finished look is super cute and sporty. Definitely a great unisex pattern!!

I decided to use the same fabric that I used for the waistband, for the pockets because I love the pop of color that you get along the side.  I thought the option to topstitch along the pocket line on front gave it a really unique touch, and definitely added to the sporty look.

As for the cuffs, I wasn't quite sure how my son would react to them. He doesn't like things that are tight on him, but due to the smaller amount of stretch in the orange fabric, I ended up cutting it a bit wider than the pattern recommended so that they would fit over his feet. The pattern recommends using rib knit for the waistband and cuffs, but I like to live on the edge :P HAHAHA.

This was the first Gracious Threads pattern that I have sewn, and it was such a great experience. The directions were very straight forward, and the line drawings were very clear and precise. Who else enjoys some good line drawings?!?! ME!!! Both my son and I really enjoyed this pattern, and I can honestly say that I will be making some more. I think that I will end up making a few pairs, sans pockets, solely for pajamas.

Now to the fun part!!!!! Are you ready for this...Gracious Threads has so graciously given everyone a coupon code to use this week. Good for 15% off using the code CANADATOUR June 1-8th only.
