{Truth in the Tinsel} Day One:

I don't know about you, but December is my favorite month! There is so much to be thankful for and so many traditions that we have, connecting family together.

Growing up, my parents had quite a few traditions that they started with us, and so many of them we still do to this day. I knew that it was important in starting my own family, to also have some of our own. This year, I decided that it was really important for me to truly teach my children what the true meaning of Christmas is...besides presents and Santa. Thus came my decision in starting Truth in the Tinsel.  This program is amazing....it's a crafty advent devotion all wrapped into one...and crafty is right up my alley!

Now, it's been a while since I have really blogged, so I am not sure if you know or not, but this year I started homeschooling my children. When I found Truth in the Tinsel I knew that it would be a perfect supplement to our curriculum, My Father's World. Once I started following the creator of this awesome program, Amanda, on Facebook I knew that I had made the right decision and that I was in for a special treat (I just love all of her posts)!

So, today begins DAY ONE! We had some other activities planned throughout the day, so I didn't get to devote as much time to it as I would have liked, but the kids still loved it and totally got the message (which made my <3 so happy)!

Jesus is the LIGHT of the World

I did this ornament a little different than in the e-book so that the end result would hold up a bit more...I mean who doesn't love a handmade ornament...especially one made by a child! I drew a candlestick and flame onto felt and let them cut it out.

...and glue them onto the felt circle (I think that we need to work on "less is more" with the glue).

They are so proud...can you tell which one of my children keeps me busy?!?

Tomorrow, when they are dry, I will stitch around the pieces to reinforce them a bit more, add the back, and a little stuffing! We had a fabulous first day and cannot wait to see what the rest of Advent brings.

Here are some pictures of the kiddos opening their Lego Advent Calendars this morning. I must they that they are SO excited for these. My youngest has already tried opening a few more days multiple times today.

AND......we can' forget about the Little people Nativity set that came out to play today too!

ETA: I totally forgot to share about MY devotion that I am using. I found an amazing study  that I over at Good Morning Girls and totally fell in love with as I used it this morning....and it's FREE!!!!!!!
