{Sew Americana} Tour

I have had SO many ideas in my head for Fourth of July for quite a while now, that it was hard for me to choose just one project to feature. Ultimately, I was drawn more to do some crafting instead of sewing...although I did manage to sneak a little sewing in there.

{Pool Side Beach Party} Tour

My gosh, I am sorry for saying this in almost every post, but it is HOT in Texas! Imagine it being so hot and humid that it makes it difficult to breathe...that is what it feels like daily here. Boo. So, you can imagine just how excited I am to be participating in the Pool Side Beach Party Tour hosted by Sprouting Jube Jube and Lulu & Celeste.

{Sew 20-Real Life Sewing} Tour

I am excited to be participating in Sew 20's very first blog tour because I just LOVE the concept. This months theme: Snapshots of your handmades being worn in everyday life! No staged photos here or special photoshoots...just raw and REAL photos. I weeded through thousands of pictures on my phone from over the last year, and it was so cool to see just how much we really do wear!

We were given a group of questions to answer, which turned out to be very thought-provoking, but in the best way possible!

{EYMM Daddy & Me} Tour

Over the last few years I sure have created quite the wardrobe for myself and the kids, however I think that I have only made one thing for my husband. To be honest, I wasn't quite sure if he really wanted me to make him anything until recently. Out of the blue he asked me "Hey, when are you going to make me something cool too?" I was a little taken back, but extremely excited that he really truly wanted some handmades. Little did he know that I had the perfect opportunity coming up.

Today is Day 1 of EYMM's Daddy and Me Tour and I made the Parker Tee for both hubby and my youngest son. I should have made another for my oldest son as well and gotten all three of my boys in their tees, but I ran out of time. After I made the adult Parker, I told my little guy that I needed to grab his measurements so that I could make him a t-shirt to match daddy and  wish I could have grabbed a pic of the look on his face! It was the sweetest thing...he was so excited to match daddy.

I made a straight 2X for my husband and a 6 for the little guy. I actually found the fabric at Walmart and it is an AMAZINGLY soft cotton spandex, has a great drape to it and is nice lightweight which will be good for this Texas heat. They both fit my guys perfectly and my husband just kept telling me how soft and comfortable it was...SCORE!!!!! I will definitely be making more of these for him.

The Parker Tee comes in a HUGE range of sizes, starting at Newborn all the way to a Men's 6X...WOW!!!! I went ahead and grabbed the bundle and saved a few dollars, but you can grab either the boys or men's sizing if you choose. Options include both long and short sleeves, layered sleeves and either crew or v-neck, and a pocket if desired, making it super versatile. And with the large size range I think I might just be making these for the rest of my life ;) That may be a little extreme, but I certainly could if I wanted to.

{Make Laundry, Don't Do Laundry} Tour

***This post contains affiliate links. As with every post, I give my honest opinion. Thank you for supporting my hobby!!!***

I have the hardest time getting laundry done...it is the bane of my existence. I can get it washed no problem, but it is getting it moved over to the dryer, dried, folded and then put away in the proper place that I struggle with. Why is it so hard to do? I ask myself that question constantly, and I have come to the conclusion that if I had a counter in the laundry room, I could immediately pull them out of the dryer and put them away. It sounds like a great idea in my head, but ultimately I am sure that would just result in having a pile of clothes on the counter rather than on the floor of the living room. Who is with me here?

Karly, Jeanine and Cassandra came together to brainstorm the idea for sharing our "laundry day picks" that are quicker to just SEW than it is to do a load of laundry. I would be lying if I said that I have never whipped up a top to wear because I didn't have anything clean.....so this is right up my alley. Follow along all this week for some great inspiration for sewing MORE and doing LESS laundry ;) Who could ask for more?!?

I have a continuously growing wardrobe due to all the pattern testing that I have done over the years, but it has really been a blessing in disguise for me. I now have a LARGE library of patterns to choose from, varying in experience level/construction time, that I can make more laundry with.

While preparing, I took a good look at the patterns that I have as well as what I owned in my closet already. I was able to narrow it down two patterns that are my all-time favorite quick sews...and since it's pretty much already summer here in Texas, I chose my favorite two tanks. The Free Spirit Tank from Patterns for Pirates and the newly released Tidal Tank from Love Notions.

The The Free Spirit Tank came out last summer and I quickly made many of them to add to my wardrobe. I my favorite part is the flared silhouette. I feel that it is flattering to those that have a little extra in the hip area because the fabric just flows right over them without creating too much bulk, but also hiding the mum tum. It comes in four lengths [cropped, shirt, tunic, dress] two backs [full, razorback] and FIVE hemming options [straight, side dipped, high low, hankerchief, curved]. I am tall, so I my favorite option is the full back tunic length...and I have been boring and only done the straight hem so far. Perhaps this summer I will add a few more to my wardrobe!!!

The Tidal Tank was just released last week, but I had the opportunity to help in the testing process. I made a few different versions in testing, but the silhouette stayed the same. I used a cotton lycra for my color-blocked versions and I find them to have more of a fun "sporty" look, however my floral version is a rayon spandex and it is more fluid and drapes better over the body. It comes in three different lengths [shirt, knee length dress, maxi] and princess seams, creating a nice shape. If you choose to do so, the Tidal Tank has a front panel that is great for color-blocking or leave it solid for a totally different look.

I LOVE the options that you are given for both of these patterns. You can create a nice range of looks with either of them, so even if you are like me and make a handful of the same pattern, it will not look like you are wearing the same thing every day.

Check out the rest of those on the tour as well, and make sure to enter the giveaway....and a HUGE thanks to the sponsors!!!
