So, in case you missed it, yesterday was the release of the Girl's Tidal Top from Love Notions...and it is just as amazing as the Women's version. Although, it was released prior, I want to talk about the Women's as well. Let's take a moment to break down the options on this one, since we all know that Tami gives us such an amazing deal with all her patterns:
- Available in 3 lengths; Top, Dress and Maxi
- Tank, Sleeveless, Short Sleeved
- Binding or Bands Finishing Options
- Girls Sizing 2t-16
- Women's Sizing XS-XXXL
- Princess Seams
- Customized Fitting Instructions
For each version that I made, both for myself and my daughter, I made the tank top due to the extreme heat in our area. What I like best about this pattern is the "fit & flare" silhouette it has...fit around the bust and flaring out around the waist/hips. The flare on this one is not nearly as pronounced as the Laundry day tee however. The Tidal Top just seems to lay nicely over all your curves without accentuating them, and with the princess seaming, it's a flattering silhouette at that! Although there is not plus sizing available on the girl's version for this one, it seems to fit just great over my daughter's tummy with the extra ease that is given, and fits quite nicely. I can say the same thing for myself as well ;)
The second best thing about this pattern is that there are 2 pattern pieces...and sewing it together is just a breeze...and QUICK. I can get one done in less than an hour easy, and I am confident that even beginners could get this done in less than two hours, making it a great beginner's project.
Lastly, one thing that is really fun about this pattern is how fun it is to mix and match different patterns and prints for a fun color-blocked look. I have seen some SUPER fun patriotic Tidals for 4th of July from some of the other testers, but the look that I am really drawn to is stripes. Using it vertically in front and horizontally on the back piece is SO FLATTERING and once I acquire some nice stripes I WILL be making one!
The only thing that I struggled with on this pattern was getting the tank straps to cover my bra straps. Throughout testing Tami tweaked a few things so that this was not as big of an issue, however everyone wears their bra differently (I have pretty wide-set and sloping shoulders) and different bra styles wear differently as well. I thought that is was something to mention so that you can be aware and make a quick muslin if you so choose, but is always a good idea. Thankfully it is an easy fix!
And now for some good news...now through July 4th, you can get 25% of your purchase of $20 or more using code 'fireworks' from Love Notions...BUNDLES INCLUDED!!!! Now is the time to buy! I would recommend grabbing some of the bundles for the best deal ever...my favorites being the Tidal Top Bundle and the Summer Caye Bundle! I just had to add this picture in here of both my daughter and I in our Tidal Tops AND Summer Caye Shorts.
