{Bluezette} Blog Tour

My oh MY! I cannot BELIEVE that it has already been 2 years since the Bluezette (aff. link) was released by Love Notions. I can still remember it so clearly as it was towards the start of my blog so it was a very memorable time for me!!! And you know what...it's totally cause for a celebration!! All this week you can grab the Bluezette Dress on sale for only $8 and find LOADS of inspiration from many talented bloggers.

WOAH...would you look at these comparison photos from when the Bluezette released over 2 years ago! It is so rewarding looking at these photos and seeing not only personal growth in my photography, but also in the quality of my sewing AND most important for me, I have found my personal style and what I LOVE and feel comfortable in. I absolutely LOVE to scour Pinterest for sewing inspiration before I start on a project, so that's where I started when I decided to join in on the blog tour.

I absolutely ADORE this one, but unfortunately I ran out of time to draft the flounce piece, but hopefully very soon I can get that done!!!

Then I found this one and I think it will be absolutely perfect for fall to mash with the Margot top, but it's starting to get HOT here in TX so I knew that I needed a tank version.

When I stumbled upon this one, I knew that was the look that I was going for...and you know what?!? I was able to use the Bluzette Dress as is, with no modifications...SCORE!

I seem to have an obsession with anything with the color mustard in it, so when I saw this fabric at Sly Fox Fabrics, I just KNEW that it had to be mine for this Bluezette...and what do you know...the floral looks just beautiful with this silhouette! It's a Rayon/Spandex/Jersey blend which is pretty much the best of all worlds; rayon gives it a great drape, spandex gives it the perfect amount of stretch, and the jersey gives it a nice soft hand. Gosh, I just want to live in this dress!

Now, I made the maxi version with blousy bodice in an XXXL, but there are also a handful of other skirt, sleeve and bodice options available in just one single pattern.

  • Skirt Styles: Tulip, High-Low, Straight, Circle, Maxi
  • Bodice Styles: Slim & Blousy
  • Sleeve Lengths: Tank, Short and Elbow
  • Sizes Included: XS-XXXL or Girls 2T-16

I decided to finish the neckline and armscye a bit different from what the tutorial shows. What I did was attach the bindings like you would a band, however sewing it on from the inside and then turning to the right side of the bodice and using my coverstitch. I wanted a slightly more casual look and I like the detail that the bindings made.

I am excited to get some good use out of this dress and I feel that it will transition into the fall nicely with an added cardigan or jean jacket...or even a scarf.

Make sure to check out all the other beautiful inspiration this week on this tour!!!!

  1. I love the way you did the bindings on this and I think it gives the casual touch you are going for. I am also totally jealous you wear mustard so well. I love the color but it looks terrible on me!
