{S is for Sewing} Blog Tour

I have been loving sewing for my boys recently! Who ever said that sewing for boys isn't fun is sorely mistaken, so when the Sewing With Boys team had a call for bloggers for their new ebook, I knew that I was game.

First of all, is that graphic not just the cutest ever?!? Just look at those awesome patterns and the details of each laid out for you. When I was trying to decide which patterns to sew up, I really had a hard time deciding...so I decided on all three articles of clothing! I actually tested the Quad Tee before it was even decided that it would be in the ebook, but of course I had to make a few more.

I really love the design of this Tee. The bold lines really make it pop, and it gives you so many options for color-blocking as well. The pattern includes a pocket that is sewn into the front seam, however I chose not to add this option because I wanted a super quick sew that I could use exclusively my serger for. I mean, who doesn't love a quick serger project! I think that it took me 30 min max to sew this up. The sizes range from XXS-L using a chest/waist measurement that I found to be spot on. My little one is wearing an XS (20" chest/waist) and middle one is wearing a S (22" chest/waist). I just LOVE the design of these and definitely will be making it a staple in both of my boy's wardrobes.

Next, I made the Bookworm blazer. The finished result on this is just AMAZING. Can I be honest and say that I impressed myself here? I have never made a blazer/jacket before, so I didn't know what to expect. I will say that I should have chosen a different fabric. I used a denim, and I didn't think that it was super thick, but when you start constructing a kids blazer and using french seams....YIKES. Let's just say that I had to use a hammer to actually sew through a few spots. Hahaha! It took me a good while from start to finish, but the end result is just super cute and my son loves it. That's all that really matters anyway, right? He looks so handsome! It comes in a huge range of sizes including 2-14 years. I would love to try one of these with a much lighter fabric and maybe a lining next time...who knows. I like to test myself because that's what makes it fun.

Lastly, I made the Radical Raglan. Super fun! Love the elements on this and mixing so many different fabrics together! The super heros are woven, the main body is microfiber and the hood lining and front flap are cotton/lycra. Can you tell that he was super excited here? I felt like I was doing fabric oragami when I was assembling the placket, but after a little work I finally got it right. Would you take a look at those pockets! What a great design element using patch pockets on this one. The sides and bottom are sewn into the seams, so it was easy to get the placement just right. I have so many ideas running through my head on ways to hack this one. Anyone else addicted to hacking ::raises my hand:: The sizes included on this are also 2-14, so we will be able to use this pattern over and over. My little guy is wearing the size 5, as I went up one size so that in the fall/winter he can wear a shirt comfortably underneath...he really could care less whether he has a shirt on underneath or not though. Especially since that microfiber is super soft.

***Disclaimer--this ebook was given to me, but as always, all opinions are my own.***

I look forward to sewing up some of the other elements available, including the pencil pouch and milk money zipper pouch before we start homeschooling again...this break is going by way to fast for me.

Thank you for stopping by, and don't forget to pick up the ebook for yourself. It is on sale (no coupon necessary) throughout the blog tour. You can find more info about the tour and visit everyone else over at www.SewingWithBoys.com.
