{Fleur Dress} from Winter Wear Designs

I just finished testing the Fleur Dress a few days ago! It is available now from Winter Wear Designs, and I am so impressed with this one.

The Fleur Dress is by far one of the most unique dresses that I have ever made. The skirt features a technique that I have never seen before, and it was so fun learning something new....I seem to be striving for new these days. I'll have to chat about that another day though. It has pleating as well as a "flange" that creates a sort of handkerchief hem. Available in 3 lengths; Vintage length is perfect to wear with shorts, Tunic which is great for leggings or skinny jeans, or Regular length which is the one that I made.

Not only is the skirt one that is unique, but the back is super cute and fun as well. It features a scoop back with button closure as well as an opening below the closure where the skirt is gathered with elastic (pardon my lack of proper terminology). This feature is what really caught my eye on this pattern. I knew that it was going to be perfect for the hot Texas summers here, and it is made with cotton wovens. I recently was introduced to a new quilt shop in town, so I have been dying to use some of those AMAZING prints!!!

The bodice has a scoop neck with options to add some "frills" down the center for extra girly factor. Have a super girly girl??? Add the flutter sleeves for even more frill factor!!!! I chose however to leave off the flutters since I was going for more of a vintage look. The fabric that I used screamed vintage to me, and from the very start, I had a good idea what direction I wanted to go in.

I am super happy with how it turned out, but even more so I am so excited to have a beautiful dress that my daughter looks and feels great in. She has decided to extend her sizing to a 16 again, so I am one super happy mama! PS: I am working on a special project for plus sized children, so if you are interested, stay tuned for that!!!

You can grab the Fleur Dress on sale through today for only $7.50 (25% off)! Also on sale you can find the TDS Bloomers for only $4....which would be great to pair with either length of the dress.

  3. I'd love to hear about plus stuff. My 10 year old is pretty much out of the normal pdf girl stuff and jumping to womens hasn't been successful/worth the effort. I actually had to go to paper patterns as there is girls+ in some. This is darling, mine won't handle the back buttons or low back, but will keep WWD in mind.

  4. I'm definitely interested in your project, I've been toying with the idea of creating a plus size patterns for children for a while... We're relocating to a new country in two months and after the summer I might start working on it.
