{X Factor Tankini} from 5 out of 4

Swim suit season is almost here..well for Texas at least. I am pretty sure this year is going to be a scorcher since we had hardly any winter. I cannot tell you how disappointed in this I am considering I grew up in the north, and I am still not use to the super hot summers. Thankfully I'll be sporting my suit in style!

5 out of 4 Patterns just released their X Factor Bikini & Tankini*, and I must say, I really like it! It has great coverage for us mom's who are still constantly running after the kiddos, which for a bathing suit is a must-have, as well as being very modest.

The X Factor Tankini* comes in sizes XXS to 3XL with a handful of options in the mix as well.

  • Bikini or Bra
  • Straight or Gathered Tankini
  • Maternity Tankini with tied ruche detailing on the side
  • Nursing option for every style
  • Extra bonus additions such as bust ruching and side seam elastic ruching

What I really like about the pattern is that there are multiple cut lines for different cup sizes, giving you even more of a custom fit. Not only that, but there are also directions for adding in soft cups for shaping (I'll update with a pic shortly). I just happened to have a set from an old sports bra laying around, so I attached them to the inside and they work perfectly! I'll have to work on getting them a bit straighter next time, but I think I did pretty good for the first shot. I also love that there are nursing options for each style even though I will not be participating in that anymore {sad mama}.

Honestly, there is not really anything that I dislike about this pattern...well maybe all the binding, but that is just because I can be lazy sometimes ;) Can't we all be?!? From start to finish, including printing and taping, it probably took me about 2 hours to make the tankini...even with all the bindings. Thankfully I invested in a coverstitch machine recently because it really makes finishing the binding SO much easier, AND gives it a super professional look.

The X Factor Tankini* can also be used for a workout tank! I am actually thinking that I will keep this one as a tank and make another for my swimsuit with a few minor adjustments. 5 out of 4 Patterns has quite a few other options as well for swim suits and workout gear. If you have not tried her patterns, I encourage you to give them a shot. You may remember the Riptide Shorties* that I made last year {You can see my post here}. I plan to make another pair for myself this summer because they are incredibly comfortable and flattering for all sizes.

So...run and grab your patterns today while they are on sale!!!
