{Cousu Collection} by Sew Straight & Gather

The Cousu Collection {Cousu- French for sewn, stitiched} was recently released by Terri from Sew Straight & Gather Pattern Co! Let me tell you...I am so in LOVE with these designs. Although each of the patterns are designed with an Intermediate sewist in mind, the instruction is very clear and easy to follow, making it a very easy sew.

What really makes these patterns stand out from the crowd is the detail...darts, darts, and more darts! I absolutely adore the pants. There are three darts along each leg, with the outermost having a "hidden" pocket. They lay so flat that when your child's hands are not in them, you would never know they were there. It really gives these Gauchos a clean and finished look along with the flat front (and elastic waistband in back).

We are gearing up for summer already here in Texas (where did Spring go?!?!) so I opted to make the Gauchos, however this pattern also includes Trouser length as well. Both of which have an adorable cuff added to them.

Lets talk about the Coat for just a moment. Once again, I just love the details on this! Again, there are three darts along each front piece of the coat with the middle one having a "hidden" pocket (optional of course). Along the back there are 4 darts total as well as an accent yoke, giving it that perfect pop of contrast. The Cousu Coat has two sleeve lengths, long or short...we opted for the short here...and is fully lined adding to the endless fabric options.

My daughter was cracking herself up...she was remembering a Punky Brewster episode where a man was saying "speaking of time, would you like to buy a watch" and she would flip her jacket open. Silly girl!

Now the Cousu Top & Dress, I will tell you now that I will be making quite a few of these. I love that she offers both the top and dress options here, with or without a bottom band, therefore giving you more options for creating either a bubble look or an A line flair. There is sweet center inverted pleat on the bodice and the skirt has three (both front and in back). I really feel that the inverted pleats on the top accentuate the detail of the darts on the pants, making this outfit look very "high end". With all the different options here, you can be sure to make many different unique outfits for various occasions!

I want to thank Terri for giving me the awesome opportunity to test for her, and look forward to her next pattern release!
